The Bernard Dog Run has been cleared by the City’s legal department, and the Lawrenceville Dog Park Committee is working closely with the Department of Public Works, Councilman Patrick Dowd’s Office, the Lawrenceville United and the Lawrenceville Corporation to create a budget, plan the construction and start fundraising.
The next steps are to have the Allegheny River Valley (AVR) remove two piles of abandonned railroad ties. The City’s Urban Forester will also be identifying non-native tree species for removal and we will work with her to add new, native trees to the area in order to keep a good tree cover. Then, a little grading work will need to happen, a lot of mulch spread over the area and a fence built. There will be a small dog section and a large dog section. Final touches will be benches, signs and hopefully solar-powered lighting.
We are planning some community fundraising events so please stay tuned to our website for updates!!
